Angel playing a Rebec Embroidery - Halo

                                           Halo almost finished .

I think I will be doing some work on the black areas next .

There is more work to be done on the odd yellow shapes both above and below .

We're hoping for some over- night rain , to refresh our vegetable garden and sweeten the air .

                                    Hope you're having a nice weekend .

Midnight stitching - Angel chemise

I actually bought this ivory silk from a lovely Japanese lady on Etsy . It came all the way from Japan ! I had planned to use it on another much larger medieval piece , but then someone put me off just as I was in the process of preparing it  . . . advice to self .. always best to keep your powder dry . πŸ–€πŸ’£πŸ’₯

My creativity comes to me like the waves of the sea and it was as if I'd missed that ninth wave .

I will go back to doing it sometime .

The phase of the moon and the tide of creativity , however, hasn't completely gone out .........

..... and I'm relishing working on this piece .

Another Angel embroidery 🌿

I'm back !  I have been really busy in my vegetable garden . So busy that I have had no time to myself to sit and do my embroidery .

However , I have made a jolly good start out there , everything planted out and now the sun has returned after weeks of mizzle and fog .

There is nothing more to be done except the watering of everything early in the morning ...and hopefully soon be harvesting some lovely fresh produce .

Happy Summer Solstice to you ...or Happy Winter Solstice if you happen to live "down under " .

Here on the Lizard Cornwall it is hot hot hot ! Too hot for me !

So now I plan to put my feet up , sit in the shade and pick up my embroidery once again .

I have put aside the Pocket Prayer Oratory for a little while , because I have been feeling inspired to embroider another Angel .  It is from a medieval stained glass window .

I came across it on Pinterest . It didn't say which church it is from . I am on a mission to find out .

Anyway I love it and am going to embroider it .

I love embroidering Angels .  I feel their presence , their invisible influence when I'm stitching them .

Been sorting out all my needles , linen and silk threads .

I made a simple sketch of the Angel onto my linen with a pencil taping the linen and the picture onto a window .

I'm just using plain ordinary sewing cotton to go over the outline before I begin to embroider with my lovely silk thread .

I always start with the face .

I will continue to stitch over these lines and eventually I'll be able to roll it up and take it out with me on our travels .

                                     Peace and Love πŸ•Š️

Little Holiday in Charmouth -✨Little Angel came too ! πŸ’›

So we've had a nice little holibobs in both Somerset and Dorset, mainly to go dinosaur hunting in Charmouth which is in Dorset .

We stayed in a sweet little 18th century period cottage in Somerset ; which meant a very long drive to the beach , but husband decided it was reasonably priced and that it would be very well worth it .

We visited Montecute House , Bridport , Lyme Regis , Glastonbury , Burton Bradstock and Groves Nursery and of course Charmouth beach .

Because of the rainy weather and the country roads being unfamiliar to us , we always tried to get back to the cottage well before dark .

Then we would have our teatime in front of the woodburning stove , with cups of tea , sandwiches and cake .

Then I would leave him in the lounge watching his American football πŸ™„

I would go into the cosy and warm , little dining room , where I really enjoyed sitting at this lovely Georgian table sketching and doing my embroidery .

I had brought lots of things to do .... no internet, no radio , just the sound of the rain on the window .

These colourful embroidery doodlings are from a Hildegard von Bingen project I am doing .
Whoever would have thought such bright colours and patterns could be from the 12th century illustrations/artwork !
I love them very much  .

                                                      πŸ’›πŸ’š❤️      πŸ’›πŸ’š❤️

Naturally , my angel came too !

I wanted to finish the background .

I soon finished the background and decided to outline her angel wings .

I think it looks better now . I'm just going to do a little more work on her angel gown .

✨I do love embroidering Angels ✨πŸ’›✨ I was delighted to find this little Angel hanging up almost hidden behind the curtains in my bedroom !✨✨✨

I have been planning to start a Perpetual Botanical Watercolour Journal .

I have the journal , the paints the brushes and everything all ready to go at home but I just can't seem to get started .
I want to record the Snowdrops , the Mistletoe , the sweet lambs in the meadows and a tiny first Ladybird of the year .
I will try again when we get home .

I did manage to sketch and embroider this Snowdrop .

🌿My Steeple Aston Cope Angel Embroidery - stitching the borders πŸ¦‹

I have finally got going on the border . Doing the chevrons (think they are called chevrons?) along either side . I'm using Silk Mill thread , one thread in the needle .

I am hoping The Silk Mill will re-open again soon , as I'm not sure if I have enough of the cream silk thread to complete the border .

I have several boxes of silk embroidery threads , but everything is in a muddle after having new windows put in .
Been thinking about trying DeVere Yarns embroidery silk threads  .
Now that I come to think of it , I might even have some already , tucked away somewhere . I need to have a rummage through it all and you know what that means ....I could get side tracked .
I will be deliciously carried away , sorting through my embroidery things and end up playing with vintage dolls or even end up doing patchwork again !

🌿🀍Framing up my Embroideries πŸ•Š️🌿

Up early to do some work in the garden while it was nice and cool.

By lunch time it was way too hot for me .So after lunch  I spent a couple of hours in the summer house framing up a couple of my embroideries .

I thought you might be interested to see how I am doing it .

After I have done this , I will stich a piece of cotton fabric to cover the back .

                 πŸ€  Here's my little Seraphim  🀍

Silk threads on Ecclesiastical brocade .

And crewel wool on linen ,  the Anglo-Saxon Trumpington Cross  .

Been busy in my vegetable garden . It has been so hot here on the Lizard . My hands rough from pulling weeds .

I won't be doing any embroidery with silk for a while . Need to do some serious hand pampering first .

πŸ”₯Seraphim - Wings of Fire πŸ”₯

The white Seta Reale Silk has been a joy to work with and of course the Silk Mill Silk .

Now with angelic guidance , I feel moved to stitch the Seraphim's wings of fire .

I decide to use some antique silk . The colours are like no other make of silk embroidery threads .

I only use for special pieces .

                          Peek-a-boo !

Thinking about the eyes , what do you think ?

Seraphim have eyes on their wings !

Angel Wings Silk

I came to a bit of a stand still on my seraphim project . When I came to stitch the wings , I wasn't sure if I had enough thread  .

This order of the Heavenly Angels have six wings !

The gorgeous silk thread that I have been using is from The Silk Mill in France , which have temporarily closed  πŸ˜” boo hoo ...  So I had to find another , as close as possible to it .

I was lucky to find this little lot of Seta Reale thread on Ebay and the thread thickness size 30 looks to be a good match . I believe this silk thread is made in Hungary and is also difficult to find now .

                                                        So I'll give it a try ! πŸ€πŸ•Š️🌿
