Isti Mirant Stella - Halley's Comet - Bayeux Tapestry

My eyes are tired , I have been stitching hard to block out all the worrying things in the news right now . We are "Self Isolating ".
I am finding it hard to concentrate on anything , but my embroidery is calming .
I have been studying the Bayeux Tapestry and stitching little things from it .

I have always loved Halley's Comet in the Bayeux Tapestry and have already appliquéd it into a quilt .

Then more recently I tried embroidering it , with crewel wool on  linen .
                                               A tiny one first .
I was a quite nervous about doing the Bayeux Tapestry Stitch .

Isti Mirant Stella - "They marveled at the star "

Now I am embroidering  a much larger one .

I,m going to use slightly brighter colours than on the original  Bayeux Tapestry .
I must say at this point , and please forgive me , as I,m sure you already know this , but the Bayeux Tapestry is not actually a tapestry at all ....it is an embroidery of fine crewel wool on tabby weave linen .
.....and so forever more , whenever the Bayeux Tapestry is spoken of ,this must always be explained !

I have  put aside King Harold . My Grandson is going to put the arrows in when I see him next , goodness knows when that will be now .
I,m so missing my lovely Grandchildren . Hope it wont be too long .

The sun has made an appearance over the last two days and I sat stitching in the warmth of the front porch to our cottage , waiting for a delivery of food from our local supermarket.  Heroes everyone of them right now .
Stay calm every one  . If you are able stay in and keep washing hands !

I,m certainly getting used to doing the Bayeux Tapestry stitch .

My eyes are tired and my elbow is aching , partly from stitching and partly from gardening .
I have hurt  my elbow from lopping bushes a couple of weeks ago .
My head aches from so much worrying  .

This piece comes from the border .

This tiny Fleur de Lis took over an hour to work .

And this strange little thing , took me two hours and was surprisingly fiddly .
Any ideas on what it might be  ?  Pig ? Bull ? Devil ?

Marmalade the Lion is wondering what it is too !

                                    Yes , I named him Marmalade !  :)

Tired eyes and time to go to sleep . Sweet dreams  everyone .
